The Lion King is one of the most popular Disney productions ever made… is that because it speaks a truth to our heart?
Mufasa represents Yahshua, the true King, the Lion of the tribe of Judah. Scar illustrates our human nature, in opposition to God. Whilst Simba and Nala represent the Sons and Daughters of the King (2 Corinthians 6:14-18).
In the story Mufasa is killed and the rightful heir, Simba, is driven out of the Pridelands.
Whilst in exile Simba eventually finds his destiny when, looking at his reflection in the water, he sees His Father in him (1 Corinthians 13:12). Simba represents the Sons – who, in Spirit, are united with Yahshua in the heavens.
Meanwhile Nala, seeing the destruction brought on by the reign of Scar and recognising the threat of their imminent extinction, feels compelled to leave the Pridelands in search of the true heir to the throne. Nala represents the Daughters – those of us still on earth who are seeking Him.
It is as this Son and Daughter, Spirit and Flesh, unite by the power of God that they will return to the Pridelands, their family, to effect its restoration.
Are we, like Nala, leaving behind the old in order to embark on a quest to seek Him with our whole heart?
A note for your diary: In the northern Summer of 2019 a new Disney production of the Lion King will be released.
