“But they that wait (קוה) upon the Lord shall renew their strength”
We think of waiting as being in a state of expectant inactivity.
However the Hebrew word קוה associates the concept of ‘waiting’ with twisting and binding (as a rope) and therefore also strength… to expect, endure, await.
So in this context waiting upon the Lord is being in a state of expectant activity during which we bind, twist and secure ourselves to His Word… and so our strength is renewed.
