We are on the road and hiking at the Alum Cliffs Gorge at Mole Creek in Tasmania.
As we were enjoying the view a bible verse came to mind that we wanted to share with you all. It is from Psalms 46:10:
Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.
Psalm 46:10
It is really easy to be still in this place. Just looking the majestic beauty fills you with a sense of awe for the God of creation. A sense that stills and humbles you and at the same time magnifies the God of creation in your eyes… and that is what this verse is all about.
When we think of being still we think of “not doing anything” of “sitting in a state of passive inactivity”. However, when we look at the Hebrew text we find out that this is not what is meant at all. The origin Hebrew word used for “be still” is Raphah and literally means “actively let go of your own attempts”… and know that I am God.
This is not a passive attitude at all. It is as we actively let go… as we stop relying on our own strength and stop trusting in our own perception and knowledge that we come before God in humility and stand in awe of Him – then we will see His true majesty and know Him on a deeper level. We will see Him open new doors and pathways. Which when we enter will witness of His glory.
The question is are we up for the challenge? Do we have the courage to be still and let go?
