Caleb was one of the twelve spies sent to search out the Promised Land (Num. 13). Together with Joshua he returned with a favourable report.
All twelve spies reported that the land flowed with milk and honey and was fruitful. However Joshua and Caleb had a different vision regarding the giants that were in the land.
Despite the presence of a people physically taller and stronger than the Israelites, Caleb declared “Let us go up at once… for we are well able to overcome it.”
Caleb expressed the vision that by following the voice of God fully the protection afforded the giants would be removed and Israel would be able to enter in and take possession of the land.
As we enter into the Promised Land today we also recognise the presence of giants. Let us be encouraged by Caleb’s report, knowing that the giant’s protection has been removed when we walk in obedience, and that this is not our battle but the Lord’s (Num. 14:9).
